Cycle, Recycle, Circle, Revolution (2019)
Installation
Okotoks, Alberta
Like breath or tides, the natural world refreshes, renews, recreates. The land moves, heaves under ice, wakes under sun. Ice and water flow.
Tracing the topology of Mount Edith Cavell, each sedimentary layer of cardboard in this installation remembers the geological history of Okotoks. As forest fires blaze and the glaciers of Jasper National Park melt under the weight of our human influence, the Okotoks erratic is a gift from this faraway mountain. The corrugated peak creates a temporary space to consider a human effect on the environment through recycled objects.
